MEADOWLANDS | Large Long Blanket | Soft Undyed Grey and Hand-Dyed Wool
MEADOWLANDS | Large Long Blanket | Soft Undyed Grey and Hand-Dyed Wool
Ideal at the end of the bed or over a sofa, as a wedding gift for a new bride and groom, as a baby blanket a child can grow into, or to nestle in after a long day, this extra-long blanket’s unique and classic tailored design is at home in any room.
This dense crochet stitch results in an heirloom quality medium weight blanket with a generous length. The wine and gold panels are a bit thicker than the grey parts of the blanket, and feature vertical stripes on the front side and horizontal stripes on the reverse (see last photo). Each panel is flanked by horizontal braids - the middle panel features three.
The wine and gold motif echoes the goldenrod and tall purple grasses of a favorite meadow where I walk, and it was after I botanically-dyed these colors using Himalayan rhubarb, myrobalan, indigo, madder, and cutch that I realized I had mimicked the color palette of the Magnolia Journal (Fall 2020)!
You can see me working on and explaining this blanket at about the 3:46 mark in this short video.
